Each season, the SSO collaborates with dozens of other Central New York arts and cultural organizations and is a catalyst in the community for such partnerships. The following is a partial list of organizations with which the SSO has partnered in the past several years:

As a member of the Syracuse community, the SSO places great emphasis on its participation in important community events, activities and observances.
In recent years, the Symphony has performed at a memorial service at Syracuse University for victims of the Pan Am 103 disaster; played for Syracuse's holiday tree lighting ceremony; produced a tribute concert to relief workers following the North Country ice storm and the Labor Day wind storm; and traveled to Seneca Falls to participate in the Women's Rights 150th anniversary celebration. The SSO also performed on the stage of Clinton Square as part of the community's "We Stand Together" memorial service for the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the U.S.
