Lindsay Groves came to Central New York to join the Syracuse Sympony Orchestra as Assistant Principal Cellist and member of the Syracuse Symphony String Quartet. Since then, she has appeared regularly as recitalist and as soloist in the region, and performed with many summer music festivals, such as the Spoleto Festival in Italy, the Eastern Music Festival in North Carolina, and the Kenai Penninsula Festival in Alaska. While on sabbatical, she joined the Opera House Orchestra of the JFK Center in Washington, DC, and substituted regularly with the Baltimore Symphony. In 1980, she helped to found the Skaneateles Festival and served as its Music Director for eleven years. In that capacity, she brought such artists as David Zinman, Ruth Laredo, Jeffrey Kahane, Robert Weirich, Andres Cardenes, Mark Kaplan, Stephen Doane, Jeffrey Solow, Colin Carr, and Hilary Hahn to perform in the Syracuse area, and collaborated with many of them. She lives in Skaneateles, teaches privately and hosts The Fiery Strings of Minnow Cove, a summer student chamber orchestra, at her house.
