Orchestras Feeding America 2010
SYRACUSE, NY – During the entire month of March, the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra (SSO) will collect non-perishable food for the 2010 Orchestras Feeding America Food Drive. Last year, the SSO’s partnership with the Food Bank of Central New York, the League of American Orchestras and Feeding America provided the community with more than 1,400 pounds of food. This year, the goal is to surpass 1,500 pounds of food.
In 2009, more than 250 orchestras representing every state participated in Orchestras Feeding America. It was the single largest orchestra community service project in the country. As a result, more than 200,000 pounds of food were collected and distributed to communities nationwide.
