Maureen McGovern to Step In for Michael Feinstein

January 19, 2010

SYRACUSE, NY – Crowd favorite Maureen McGovern will take the place of Michael Feinstein for the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra (SSO) M&T Bank Pops concert on March 26 and 27, 2010. Michael Feinstein will, instead, join the SSO on January 14-15, 2011.

McGovern’s versatility has brought her success in concert halls, theater, film, television, radio and recording. Her famous songs "The Morning After" and "We May Never Love Like This Again" have won her two Oscars. She is also a Grammy winner for her contribution to the album Songs From the Neighborhood: The Music of Mister Rogers.

Based on her latest album release McGovern will present A Long and Winding Road: In Concert, a look back at the songs from the 1960s and 1970s that inspired her. In a critique of her latest album, the New York Times recently praised her, stating: “her vocal technique is second to none.” McGovern comes to Syracuse following a successful five-week theater run performing this concert in Boston. In addition to her Syracuse performance, she will be singing with the Boston Pops and Philadelphia Pops this year. Popular with the Syracuse audience, McGovern last performed with the SSO in 2001.
